Why do you come to church? This could be answered with any of a myriad of answers. Certainly there are good answers and undoubtedly there are bad. As part of our lives we should always be checking our motives and actions against what we know in Biblical truth.  So when we walk through the door on Sundays and Wednesdays it should be to pursue worship of a Holy and Worthy God, to increase our knowledge of Scripture, and to grow in faith bringing the Gospel to the lost (among other things). When we decide to attend a church service because we enjoy a worship style, there are good programs and facilities for our family, or because we feel comfortable in the fellowship of family and friends, we are wrong. I’m afraid here in America we have become too complacent, allowing church to be inconsequential and simply something we tack on as a moral merit badge. When people around the world in persecution pack together to worship in some rundown shack they put us to shame. We have become spiritual snobs, scoffing at the feast we are blessed with while others are grateful for table scraps. May we return to a Biblical understanding of what worship and church should be.

So FBC,  why do you go to church?

Grace and Peace,

Josh
